Judging the Judiciary: The Gezi case

The Gezi case has turned into a war against civil society and advocacy. The investigation concerning Gezi Park protests turned into a case after 6 years. The detainee businessman Osman Kavala was accused with ‘attempt to overthrow the government’ along with 15 other right defenders. The indictments displaying the Gezi events as ‘organized crime’ are merely based on assumptions. The prosecutions evidence for the indictments consist of phrases such as: ‘we understand that…’, ‘they met here or there….’ Also, according to the indictment, ‘nonviolent protests’ are ‘criminal'(!)…
